How a CNC Lathe Works
Manufacturing using a CNC lathe involves removing material by cutting away excess in order to create the finished product. As the CNC lathe spins a metal part in a spindle, a cutting tool moves axially towards the part and alongside it to remove material. CNC lathes are used to create cylindrical parts, but additional operations can be added using other machinery. The lathing process is often referred to as CNC turning because of the way the machinery operates by spinning.

Lathes are well-suited for working with a variety of metals, including aluminum, titanium, stainless steel, carbon steel, and copper alloys, and they are used to make parts for a wide range of industries.
